Ivete Sangalo’s concert at Madison Square Garden this weekend was the top tweeted show of the summer in NYC. Check out more stats at SUPERGLUED.

This review from the Associated Press outlines Ivete’s history as well as details of the show, including commentary on special guests Nelly Furtado, Juanes, Seu Jorge, and Diego Torres.

The show was filmed for a live DVD, Multishow Ao Vivo – Ivete Sangalo no Madison Square Garden, which is expected to be released later this year.

The fine folks at NPR recently featured an interview with Cuban singer Isaac Delgado on their “Weekend Edition” segment. After multinational success and multiple Grammy nominations for his past two albums, Delgado brought life to an album he has been working on ever since he was a small child: an album inspired by his mother, the famous dancer Lina Ramirez. The new album which was released August 31st, titled L.O.V.E, is a tribute to the world famous Nat King Cole.
In this 8-minute clip from NPR, Delgado speaks of both his passion for Nat King Cole and the struggles involved in making this ambitious project a reality. Isaac will be bringing the music of Nat King Cole to the Concert Hall on Friday, September 24, with a special guest appearance by Nat’s brother, Freddy Cole. This concert was listed by the Wall Street Journal as one of the top 5 cultural events to be looking forward to in the fall.

Our good friends from Caco de Telha just sent us a video that follows the installation process of a gorgeous tower banner of Ivete Sangalo, which went up recently just outside of Madison Square Garden. A couple of folks from the Metropolitan staff were there to see the banner go up in person, and it made such an impression that a ton of tourists stopped to snap their own shots of the banner once it was finally up!

Check out the banner in person by going to 33rd Street (walking from 7th Av toward 8th Av), and while you’re in the neighborhood you can pick up one of the few remaining tickets for Ivete’s show on September 4th at the MSG box office.

The Weepies recently released an adorable video for “Be My Thrill,” the lead single off their soon-to-be-released album of the same name. The album, out August 31, will be supported by a tour including a date at the Hiro Ballroom on November 10.

The fun continues this August at the St. George Theatre on Staten Island, where the band will perform a “birthday party” concert at 1PM on the 15th. Here at Metropolitan we’ve had a great past two nights with our Iron Maiden and Squeeze/Cheap Trick shows.

On Monday night Iron Maiden caused quite a buzz – even becoming a trending topic worldwide on twitter – for lead singer Bruce’s comments on LeBron James’ recent decision to play for the Miami Heat. Speaking from their sold out show at Madison Square Garden, Bruce addressed the crowd: “If I were to say LeBron James (chorus of boos)…let’s not go there. Moving on…”

Last night Squeeze and Cheap Trick performed at Radio City Music Hall, and reviews so far have been great. Check out one review HERE.

Two members of Squeeze, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, stopped by the Q104 studios to perform their hit ‘Tempted.’ Check it out below.

For their upcoming show on July 13, at Radio City Music Hall, they will be performing with a new Keyboardist, Stephen Large and drummer, Simon Hanson, both former members of Fluffers. Cheap Trick is also performing.

Ivete Sangalo has added Nelly Furtado & Diego Torres to a lineup of special guests including Juanes, Seu Jorge, and James Morrison to her show at Madison Square Garden on September 4. Sangalo is the first Brazilian artist ever to headline the arena.

Torres has released his seventh studio album “Distinto” after recently finishing a music video for his song “Guapa.” Watch the video:

Furtado was in the studio with Ivete this month, recording studio versions of songs they will be performing together at the show. She will also soon release a Spanish-language album, Lifestyle, which draws heavily from her current Mi Plan tour.
